Although it would appear that unions play an integral role in a philosophy of what they believe is much needed social justice based on equality and solidarity rooted in humanistic principles, the purpose of unionization is the consolidation of power as a political franchise. You could say, proponents see it as an antidote to the ills of capitalism. If this form of socialism is imbued with valid principles, then why does it generally fail as a system, i.e. why doesn’t everyone buy into the system and pay union dues? Unionism, as a form of socialism fails to adequately take into account the value of competition as a source of energy and vitality, i.e. when you hamper free competition by natural or man-made influences, the end results are usually stagnation, stasis and regression. Not saying free competition should be driven by unrestrained impulses or selfishness descending into a social Darwinism where the the strong prey on the weak as it sometimes does, but that it should be conducted within a framework of rules and conventions that bring forth the energies of individuals to revitalize society by creating value through humanitarian competition. Unfortunately for the union and its members, unionism is not based on humane values characterized by kindness, mercy, and sympathy, or inflicting as little pain as possible. It is often cruel, brutal, ruthless, inhumane, unsympathetic, uncivilized, and barbarous. Unions raise ziggurats, dissatisfied with the ordinary, healthy, bold stride with which a man walks to work and home again. Unions expect economic justice, a subset of welfare that will guarantee them access to economic success, i.e. equal access to the resources and opportunities of their employers without the risk, whom they see as their oppressors. Unions then attempt to access these benefits by way of negotiable and transferable rights they lobby to establish by legislation, for the purpose of mounting onto each citizen an even greater than $500,000 liability per citizen, which already amounts to the exorbitant unfunded liability amount of $160,000,000,000,000. A metamorphosis of social equality concept then transforms goals of social equality, equal rights, liberties, and status as that of their employers, into suffrage, i.e. to arrogate to themselves the right to demand lifelong reimbursement from fate, from whatever early frustrations ail them in the first place. The notion or belief that one (or oneself) is deserving of some particular reward or benefit has a pejorative connotation because the entitled harbor jealousy or resentment toward those they sense as better than them, and from whom they expect union dues for redistribution to further their cause no less. This suggests an abiding sense of contention or predisposition toward conflict arising from self-centered ambition. Although unions may appear well-intentioned and civil, even humble, inwardly, they represent members who see themselves as superior to others, causing them to become consumed with arrogance and contempt toward scabs. This conflict between outward appearance and behavior and inner feelings and orientation makes them prone to hypocrisy and betrayal when it comes to these “freeloaders”, who don’t want to pay their dues while the union is still required to collectively bargain for them by law. Rather than transcending these tendencies, and simply acting with a sense of mission, wisdom and compassion for the sake of all people with a strong wish for their happiness, unions submit to a perversity of social justice, and pseudo-humanistic principles, without revealing their true intentions. That is not to say however, that the cruel and corrupt have not the potential for compassion. Simply; the nature of a union is to not base its actions upon wisdom and compassion for all people. Otherwise, you might see that more would be willing to contribute to the cause of unionism and pay union dues. In reality, unions are ineffective to leading people to their happiness. Loss corresponds to a deterioration of one’s inner state of life, which gradually comes to manifest itself externally. Happiness or unhappiness is entirely the reflection of the balance of good and bad causes accumulated in one’s life. No one can blame another for their misfortunes. Fundamental darkness is rooted in ignorance. The Law of Causality governs all life; this means “we get what we deserve in life,” not “what we need.” “I need it so someone must give it to me,” such as union dues violates this universal prerequisite. Unions, demanding that they and their members’ needs be met, expect to take away from those who deserve it to give it to those who just need it; to lobby Washington, for instance. We are not on a predestined path of what our life will be. We are responsible for choosing how we lead our lives. We always have the choice of taking responsibility for our future and taking action with the strong conviction that it is never too late to change our lives for the better. we alone are responsible for our present situations. It is up to each of us to develop ourselves and take responsibility for our lives. Otherwise, we are without the helm to control the destiny of our ship of a life. True happiness results from our efforts to manifest our highest potential — wisdom, compassion, courage and vitality and all that is necessary to overcome any hardship. “Reason gives rise to faith; faith, in turn, seeks reason; reason thus gained elevates faith; and faith thus elevated further deepens reason” (Toda). Through deepened faith and study, anyone can come to see the opportunity within problems and obstacles and fortify their ability to overcome them. We are the protagonists with the power to decide our own destiny. No union can decide that for us.
