To see the truth, particularly the true nature of your life. Every major concept, theory, field and historical philosophy has its basis in cause and effect. To somehow believe you will escape the effects of the causes you make throughout your lifetime “for the love of God” is fundamental ignorance. The worship of a “superhuman” controlling power you personify means to attribute your volition, and thus relinquish lack free will. The inability to see or recognize the truth, particularly the true nature of your life, i.e. that which prevents you from realizing the truth, e.g. about universal law of cause and effect or the oneness of good and evil, is an illusion that gives rise to other illusions, and which false views or distorted perceptions of the truth cause suffering. Fundamental darkness, another term for illusions personifies a function into a devil, which always manifests itself as “one” who makes free use of the fruits of others’ efforts for “its” own pleasure, and is always served by innumerable minions who obstruct truth and sap ones’ life force. By definition, religion is the worship of a controlling power over your life, and the redemption always means an exchange in some form of payment to gain or regain the possession of something; in this case, it’s your soul under control, i.e. for no other reason than to supplant YOUR free will, by exchanging your liberty to commit evil and avoid suffering. The approach is no different than the predictive programming techniques Hollywood uses causation to predispose its audience to accept the social contracts, those implicit agreements that obligate members of society to sacrifice some individual freedom for state protection, e.g. Patriot Act, TSA, war on terror, etc., which are not only cause for a significant loss of liberty, but causes for suffering. Good and evil are non-dual, but existing in all phenomena as a permanent, essential, or characteristic attribute; and not distinct or separate. Though not mutually exclusive as occurring simultaneously, good and evil are different functions; where their purpose is natural to either benefiting or harming oneself. Even when manifesting one, good and evil are never entirely lacking or free of the potential for the other in every single moment of life.
